**Alex Bregman** is a professional baseball player born March 30, 1994, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.[4] He is a **third baseman** who has established himself as one of baseball's most complete players, combining elite offensive and defensive abilities. Bregman excelled from an early age, becoming the first high school player to win the USA Baseball Player of the Year Award in 2010 as a sophomore.[3] He attended Louisiana State University, where he was named National Freshman of the Year in 2013, won the Brooks Wallace Award as the country's best college shortstop, and earned two All-American selections.[3] Over 190 career games at LSU, he batted .338 with a .412 on-base percentage and .520 slugging percentage.[1] The Houston Astros selected Bregman second overall in the 2015 MLB Draft, signing him for a $5.9 million bonus.[1] He made his MLB debut on July 25, 2016, and quickly established himself as a key player.[2] His breakout came in 2017 when he played a crucial role in the Astros winning their first World Series title, delivering clutch hits including a walk-off single in Game 5 against the Los Angeles Dodgers.[2] The 2018 season marked Bregman's peak performance, as he batted .286 with 31 home runs, 103 RBIs, and a league-leading 51 doubles, earning his first Silver Slugger Award and All-Star selection.[2] He was also named MVP of the 2018 All-Star Game.[3] In 2019, Bregman hit a grand slam in the World Series, finishing second in American League MVP voting.[3] Throughout his career with Houston, Bregman earned multiple accolades including Gold Glove Awards and All-MLB selections.
