Bryce Dallas Howard (born March 2, 1981) is an American actress and director, recognized for her work in film and television. She is the eldest daughter of filmmaker Ron Howard and studied acting at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Howard first gained major attention for her portrayal of Rosalind in a 2003 stage production of *As You Like It*, which led director M. Night Shyamalan to cast her in the thriller *The Village* (2004) without an audition. She also starred in Shyamalan’s *Lady in the Water* (2006) and later appeared in Lars von Trier’s *Manderlay* (2005), replacing Nicole Kidman[1][4].
