Cameron Young, born May 7, 1997, in Scarborough, New York, is an American professional golfer residing in Jupiter, Florida.[1][2][4] He attended Wake Forest University, where he excelled in college golf, securing five victories—tying for the fourth-most in program history—including the U.S. Collegiate Championship and Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational as a freshman, and the General Hackler Invitational with a career-best 19-under 197 score.[3] As an amateur, he won the 2017 Lenox Advisors New York State Open, the first amateur to claim the title, and the 2018 Westchester Open.[1][5] Young turned professional in 2019 and quickly achieved success, winning back-to-back Korn Ferry Tour events in 2021: the AdventHealth Championship and Evans Scholars Invitational.[1] He earned PGA Tour status and was named 2022 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year after a standout season with five runner-up finishes—the most since 1983—including second at The Open Championship and T3 at the PGA Championship, plus T3 at the RBC Heritage.[4][7] He debuted on the victorious 2022 U.S. Presidents Cup team and reached a career-high world ranking of No. 13 in April 2023.[1][4][6] In majors, Young posted strong results: T7 at the 2023 Masters, T3 at the 2022 PGA Championship, second at the 2022 Open Championship, and T4 at the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont.[1][5] His first PGA Tour victory came at the 2025 Wyndham Championship, bringing his professional win total to five.[1][2][4] As of late 2025, he ranks 19th in the Official World Golf Ranking and qualified for the 2025 Ryder Cup team.[2][6] At 5'11" and 28 years old, Young remains a prominent figure on the PGA Tour, known for his aggressive style and consistent contention.[4]
