Colman Domingo is an American actor, playwright, director, and producer born on November 28, 1969, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.[3] He has established himself as a versatile and acclaimed performer across theater, film, and television. Domingo rose to prominence through his role on the sketch series *The Big Gay Sketch Show* (2008–2010) and as Victor Strand in the AMC series *Fear the Walking Dead* (2015–2023).[4] Throughout his career, he has appeared in significant films including *Lincoln* (2012), *Selma* (2014), *If Beale Street Could Talk* (2018), *Candyman* (2021), and *Zola* (2021).[1][4] In 2023, Domingo achieved major recognition with acclaimed performances in *Rustin* and *The Color Purple*, for which he received Academy Award nominations for Best Actor.[4] He also earned Golden Globe nominations for both films.[3] His role as Bayard Rustin in the Netflix film *Rustin* particularly garnered widespread praise and numerous accolades, including a Spotlight Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and the Virtuoso Award at the Santa Barbara Film Festival.[2] On television, Domingo won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama for his role as Ali in HBO's *Euphoria*.[1][5] He has also received a Hollywood Critics Association Award for Best Actor in a Limited Series/Anthology and an Imagen Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama.[1] In 2024, he achieved a historic double win of Lead Actor and Supporting Actor Awards at the NAACP Image Awards.[2] Beyond performance, Domingo is an accomplished playwright and producer.
