About Norman Reedus

**Norman Mark Reedus** is an American actor born January 6, 1969, in Hollywood, Florida.[2][3] He began his career as a model before transitioning to acting, initially working on independent film productions.[2][3] Reedus first achieved prominence for his role as Murphy MacManus in the 1999 film *The Boondock Saints*, opposite Sean Patrick Flanery and Willem Dafoe.[1][3] He reprised this character in the 2009 sequel *The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day*.[1][3] His film career includes supporting roles in larger-budget productions such as *Blade II* (2002) and *American Gangster* (2007), as well as his major film debut in Guillermo del Toro's *Mimic* (1997).[1][3] Additional notable films include *Red Canyon* (2008), *The Conspirator* (2010), and *Triple 9* (2016).[1] Reedus's career reached new heights when he was cast as Daryl Dixon in the AMC horror drama series *The Walking Dead* (2010–2022), where he appeared in 148 episodes as a main cast member.[2] The character, created specifically for Reedus after his audition, became one of the series' most popular characters despite not appearing in the original comic book source material.[1][2] Following the conclusion of the main series, he continues to star as Daryl Dixon in the spin-off series *The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon*, which premiered in September 2023 and remains ongoing.[2][3] Beyond acting, Reedus is an accomplished artist and photographer with several published photography books.[1][4] He exhibits his work in galleries worldwide, including locations in New York, Berlin, and Frankfurt.[1] Additionally, he hosts the reality series *Ride with Norman Reedus*, which premiered in June 2016.[3] Professionally, Reedus established the production company Bigbaldhead, Inc., with producing partner Amanda Verdon and maintains a first-look deal with AMC studios.[1][4]
