Dennis Pitta is a retired American football tight end who played college football at Brigham Young University (BYU) and professionally for the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL.[1][2][7] At BYU from 2004 to 2009, he appeared in 50 games, recording 221 receptions for 2,901 yards and 21 touchdowns, with five or more receptions in 23 games.[1] He set NCAA records for career receiving yards by a tight end (2,901) and BYU records for tight end receptions in a season (83 in 2008) and career yards.[1] Pitta earned NCAA Consensus All-American honors and helped BYU rank No. 6 nationally in passing offense in 2008.[1] Selected by the Ravens in the fourth round (No. 114 overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft, Pitta played his entire professional career (2010-2016) with the team, compiling 224 catches for 2,098 yards as a consistent starter.[2][3][4] His most notable achievement was winning Super Bowl XLVII as part of the Ravens' 2012 championship squad.[2][3] Pitta's career was derailed by recurrent hip injuries, beginning with a subluxation during 2013 training camp, followed by another in 2014 against the Cleveland Browns, and a third dislocation-fracture in 2016 OTAs that prompted his retirement.[4][5] The Ravens released him five days after the final injury.[4] Post-retirement, Pitta has transitioned into motivational speaking and talent engagements, sharing insights from his football journey.[3] As of recent records, he remains relevant in sports alumni circles, with no major public events noted beyond his playing legacy.[2][3]
