Disappointments at the Alaska Summit

Introduction
The Alaska summit was supposed to be a turning point for Ukraine, a chance to strengthen ties with the West and push back against Russian aggression. But for many Ukrainians, the outcome was a major disappointment. Prominent leaders from around the world were in attendance, including President Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, from the perspective of Ukraine, the summit was a red carpet for Putin and a missed opportunity for their own interests.
The Red Carpet for Putin
One of the biggest disappointments for Ukraine was the friendly treatment of Putin at the summit. Despite Russia's ongoing aggression towards Ukraine, Putin was given a seat at the table and was even offered a friendly elbow bump from President Biden. This gesture was seen as a betrayal to many Ukrainians, who were hoping for a stronger stance against Russia's actions. The lack of consequences for Putin's actions further fueled the disappointment felt by many in Ukraine.
Lack of Results for Ukraine
Another source of disappointment for Ukraine was the lack of concrete results or actions to support their interests at the summit. Many were hoping for a clear commitment from the US and its allies to support Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of Russian aggression. However, the final statement released by the leaders was vague and did not address specific actions. This left many Ukrainians feeling let down and questioning the effectiveness of the summit.
